1. Working with kids for the past 2 years (it’s been that long?) has been exhausting, eventful, and fulfilling thus far. They suck out all my energy, but next thing I know I’m gaining it back when they’re laughing or saying some batshit crazy, off-the-wall things that only a kid can say without the corruption of growing up. I can fill up a book with all the weird things I’ve heard.

I say this is only a summer job, but who knows. Maybe I’ll seriously consider being a teacher later on. We’ll see where life takes me.

And yeah, I know. I am the girl least you’d least likely consider to be an elementary school teacher. But then again, aren’t a lot of teachers mild alcoholics and prone to breakdowns? (Kidding…)

Pictured: one of the drawings my mini-me (Malia) made for me during extended care. She was quiet and shy, and reminded me a lot of myself when I was younger. So young, so full of promise…. jeez, what happened to me?
